A landscape, tidal flats, a tread pattern? It is a part of an old wooden door in the Historic Neustadt of Quedlinburg, and it reflects, what makes Quedlinburg worthy to be a world heritage of culture.
We took the photograph in the backyard of the gallery Hof zum Blauen Stern, also the studio of the artist couple Elvira and Ekkehard Franz. Here a Wabi Sabi atmosphere, the capriciously japanese aesthetic view and acceptance of transience and imperfection, is still at home – in the middle of Europe. We will show some examples more in the future. Keep an eye on the category Wabi Sabi in the header of this homepage.
